Creating Soundscape Art

I am Andrew Bachell and I have worked for many years in heritage management and conservation.  This site is about my interest in bringing heritage alive through creative use of sound.  I am looking for ways to engage visitors directly in  the creation of soundscapes and showing how music can contribute to the heritage experience.

Where Heritage Meets Interactive Creativity

The RhythmMIll is a sound installation that is used from time to time at Stanley Mills allowing the visitor to create or compose soundscapes that represent life and sounds of a working cotton mill. Stanley Mills are open to the public.

Historic Places Need Sound

Historic places were not silent. Heritage need not be silent either.

Family-Friendly Fun

Current projects include teh RhythmMill - an engaging sensory exhibit perfect for all ages.

The RhythmMill was developed in partnership with the community as volunteers on site and through help with construction at the local Men's Shed.
